Kenya Agribusiness and Agroindustry Alliance (KAAA) are eager to work with IBM Shamba Team Corporate Service Corps (CSC) to improve on our agricultural sector. The team has been in the course of the month of May 2014 working on Strategies for leveraging information to support value chains in Diary and Cereals to catalyse agricultural sector in line with Kenya Vision 2030.
In the past 5 years, CSC has had great impact in Government service delivery, education, jobs and healthcare. KAAA is looking forward to implementing solutions that will come up as a result of the collaboration with the IBM team in the agricultural sector.
The team had a wonderful experience conducting a value chain analysis in two sectors: Dairy and cereals. They have had meetings with farmers, millers, and institutions in relation to both sectors to better understanding of the value chains. This has enabled them to analyse the possible options, Root Causes for Sub Optimal Value Chain Performance and recommend Possible Private Sector Investment areas.
Among the field areas the team visited is Mwea Nice rice Millers, and Githunguri Dairy Farmers cooperative society.
